Oven-Baked Tradition^TM is slowly oven baked. It is not manufactured with the extrusion cooking process like most other pet foods on the market. Oven baking brings out the aroma and flavor while facilitating the digestion of the ingredients within, and essential proteins and vitamins are preserved.

The extrusion cooking process is the classic process used to make animal kibbles. Extrusion is an extremely rapid process that transforms ingredients into food at a rate of 10 to 12 tons an hour. This process is due mostly to high temperatures and higher than normal atmospheric pressure.
