The Women Behind Oven-Baked
Tradition: Driving Quality Pet Food in Canada

From Recipe Development to Production, Passionate Women Lead the Way

March 8 is more than just a date on the calendar, itโ€™s an opportunity to celebrate those who transform their daily lives through passion, dedication, and humanity. A day to honor the journey theyโ€™ve traveled, but also to highlight the real and meaningful contributions of women in our workplaces and communities. A moment to look around and recognize the women who, every day, build, innovate, create, and care, always with conviction.

At Oven-Baked Tradition, this day resonates in a special way. Behind every recipe, every quality check, every carefully prepared bag of food or treats, there are women who are fully committed. Women with heart and mind. Professionals that are passionate about animal nutrition, pride in doing things well, and the joy of creating products here in Canada for dogs and cats that they truly believe in.

Rather than speaking about women in general, we chose to give them a voice. To highlight those who contribute, whether itโ€™s behind the scenes or on the front lines, helping to showcase our expertise, transparency, and commitment to healthy, thoughtful nutrition for the pets we love so much.

Through their journeys, their challenges, their inspirations, and sometimes even their own fur babies, youโ€™ll discover faces, voices, and stories that bring our values to life. Because a brand is more than products. Itโ€™s made of people. Today, we celebrate six inspiring women, while acknowledging that the companyโ€™s success relies on the collective effort of everyone on our team who keeps OBTโ€™s heart beating.

Why they choseโ€ฏOven-Baked Tradition?

For many of the womenโ€ฏhighlighted, choosing Oven-Baked Traditionโ€ฏcame naturally. Some were looking for aโ€ฏworkplaceโ€ฏwhere quality is a true priority, not just aโ€ฏtalking point. Others wanted to contribute to a Canadian-based company thatโ€ฏproducesโ€ฏlocally, withโ€ฏmeticulous standardsโ€ฏandโ€ฏcompleteโ€ฏtransparency.

What comes upโ€ฏoftenโ€ฏin theirโ€ฏtestimonialsโ€ฏis respect:
Respect for craftsmanship.
Respect forโ€ฏprocesses.
Respect for quality and safety.
Respect for the product and for the pets whoโ€ฏenjoys our oven-baked foods.

They chose Oven-Baked Tradition because they wanted to work for a brand thatโ€ฏmakes a tangible difference in the lives of dogs and cats. For them, itโ€™s not just a jobโ€ฏitโ€™s a concrete contribution to a mission aligned with their values.

Contributing Every Day to a Meaningful Mission

At Oven-Baked Tradition, women are present at every level of the organization, from production to ownership. Their expertise is not limited to a single department: itโ€ฏinfluencesโ€ฏbothโ€ฏday-to-dayโ€ฏoperations and strategicโ€ฏdecision-making.

In the bakery, theyโ€ฏoversee every stage, from upstream planning to final packaging. Team coordination, quality control and adherence to standards. Their rigor directly helps maintain consistently high benchmarks.

In research and development,โ€ฏthey contributeโ€ฏto analyzingโ€ฏnutritional needs,โ€ฏformulatingโ€ฏrecipes,โ€ฏand continuously improving products. In marketing andโ€ฏbrand management, they ensure that this expertise is communicated clearly and transparently to partners and consumers.

From the initial ideaโ€ฏto market launch, their contributions are continuous,โ€ฏreflecting the tangible impact they have on the companyโ€™s mission and values.

Pride in Every Action

Every woman at Oven-Baked Tradition embodies authenticity and passion. Developing and elevating a local brand, with products made in Canada, brings a unique sense of pride. This pride is also reflected in the care and precision of our processes. Itโ€™s this local expertise, combined with a human-centered approach, that sets Oven-Baked Tradition apart in the Canadian and international markets.

The company also celebrates diversity and inclusion, recognizing the contributions of all its women, whether in leadership, production, or support roles. Women make up 31% of the total workforce, and more than half of upper management are women a clear reflection of the importance placed on equality and female leadership at every level of the company.

At Oven-Baked Tradition, we often talk about what sets us apart: our oven-baking process, whichโ€ฏhelpsโ€ฏpreserve the nutritional qualitiesโ€ฏand flavor ofโ€ฏour recipes.โ€ฏBut beyond the process, the true differenceโ€ฏalso lies in our values,โ€ฏin respect for a job well done,โ€ฏin the integrity of our choicesโ€ฏand in the female expertise thatโ€ฏhelps maintain these high standards every day.

A Company Culture That Makes a Difference

Family spirit is a value oftenโ€ฏhighlightedโ€ฏwhen talking about Oven-Baked Tradition.

It is reflected in respect for people, in collaboration between teams, and the commitment to building for the long term. This culture fosters trust and allow women to grow, share ideas, and take on significant responsibilities.

Vรฉroniqueโ€™s story is a striking example. Being the first woman in her family to take on the companyโ€™s leadership representsโ€ฏan important milestone. โ€ฏShe embodiesโ€ฏboth the continuity of an entrepreneurial legacy and the embrace of modern, inclusive leadership.

The Lemieux family spirit is reflected in daily decisions, in the care given to human relationships, and in the alignment between the values the company expresses and the actions it takes.

“When I was five, people asked me, ‘What do you want to do in life?’ I would answer, ‘I want to follow in my father’s footsteps’. Carrying the Lemieux name and being the first to achieve it is a great source of pride.”

March 8 reminds us that every woman carries the power to transform whatever she touches and to plant ideas that grow and strengthen communities. At Oven-Baked Tradition, these stories spark inspiration in our daily lives and in the lives of everyone we encounter.

Today, we celebrate the quiet strength, creativity, and vision of those who, through their actions, make the world of animals and humans brighter. May this day be an invitation to recognize and nurture these talents all around us, and to continue building together a future where every action counts.
